Mission of WVPolitics.org

The mission of WVPolitics.org is primarily to educate the citizens about their elected officials and the offices they hold. WVPolitics.org plans on bringing murky, hidden secrets of our public representatives to light, revealing openly what they earn, what their job descriptions are, what they do (and what they refuse to do), and assess their overall job performance.

In addition, WVPolitics.org strives to do the following:

  • Bring the facts out in the open. Too often, print media like newspapers skew their "reporting" to one side of an issue. Newspapers generate their revenue from advertising, and if their advertising clients feel a certain way on a particular issue, it's unlikely the paper will publish an opposing viewpoint. Well, they might publish it, but it will be buried in small print on page 15 or something.

WVPolitics.org believes in presenting all sides of an issue. All relevant, accurate stories are published, and no opinions are suppressed.

  • Hold elected officials accountable. Those who hold public office sometimes forget they work for the people. And when we say people, we mean all their constituents, not just the members of their immediate families and their cousins. Many times those of us who are frustrated with the decisions elected officials make, or the direction they take on issues (or don't take) have voices that go unheard. WVPolitics.org will provide a place for those people to bring out the facts and voice their opinions for all to hear.

  • Work for change when necessary. Why is it so hard to unseat an incumbent? Even bad incumbents can spin the media and present themselves as 'not that bad.' If you look around at the poor shape your community is in, when compared to the rest of the country, don't throw up your hands and sigh, "Well, that's just the way it is." Get involved. Stay active. Educate yourself on the issues. Then vote accordingly. Remember, you don't need term limits when you can vote for the challenger.
